THE VISUAL STORYTELLING PROJECT
Not all directors, screenwriters, filmmakers, teachers, bloggers, and photojournalists have learned the art of storytelling and know how to tell a story visually. New technology makes this possible with the advent of digital cameras easy to use software and outlets like YouTube to broadcast your message.
Visual Storytelling is a tool for creating compelling images, using montages, narration and music that allows the viewer to suspend belief and become totally immersed in its presentation. This is the tool that successful Directors, Filmmakers, Videographers; Bloggers, Reporters, Screen Writers and Producers must use to tell compelling stories.
What you will learn
New Technology, the Internet and developing Visual Storytelling skills provide the opportunity to create high quality presentations for use as streaming video or professional quality presentations for businesses web sites and blogs. You can publish them to YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, Google and other on line media outlets .
There is a growing market for self contained professionals able to cover assignments with a camera and a laptop, as well as many entrepreneurial rewards. At the conclusion of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to create media for our streaming web site, where you can unleash your creativity, polish your skills and showcase your work to the world.
A digital still camera is small enough to fit in your pocket or purse and many offer the ability to shoot video on SD disks. It is a perfect tool for Visual Storytelling as you learn to produce, design, write and storyboard narratives, editing your still and video images you create with your digital camera. Access to a PC with Windows Movie Maker or other editing software or Mac with I-Movie is required and you will script, storyboard, narrate and edit your projects on your home computer using editing and production techniques you learn in class then upload them to the internet.
Register for the Visual Storytelling course at City College and learn how to tell stories cinematically. You will develop the skills you need to produce movies, music videos documentaries, news or short films that will internet TV or used for work and business resumes.

This class is for individuals with a desire to tell stories through images, learn to use the new technologies available and beneﬁt their search for employment in broadcasting, the internet and other media, as well as creating blogs and entrepreneurial use of the skills they learn in the class.
